Turkish police are on the hunt for a gunman who killed at least 39 people in an Istanbul nightclub on New Year’s Eve. CCTV footage purportedly shows the suspect during the attack in the Reina club. Turkey’s interior minister says the gunman is believed to have acted alone

Turkey was shaken once again in the first hours of 2017, as one of Istanbul’s jet set nightclubs was raided by a gunman who killed 39 and wounded 65 people, four of whom are in a critical condition.
Until yesterday Turkey’s Diyanet was busy condemning New Year celebrations: 
Directorate of Religious Affairs Head Mehmet Görmez released a statement on Jan. 1 condemning the deadly attack at a nightclub in central Istanbul, which claimed 39 lives, describing the act as “savage and horrific.”
 
A gunman opened fire inside a packed Istanbul nightclub shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day, killing dozens and wounding dozens more, Turkish officials said.
