Almost 300 journalists in Turkey, a member state of the Council of Europe and a candidate country to the European Union, are languishing behind bars or facing outstanding arrest warrants, a report released by the Stockholm Center for Freedom (SCF)
Broadcasting ban has been imposed on news website http://www.ozguruz.org whose Editor-in-Chief is Can Dündar before it started news broadcasting.

Renowned Turkish journalist Can Dündar launched a new Germany-based online news portal on Jan. 24, titled “Özgürüz” (We Are Free).
The German Justice Ministry’s invitation to an official reception to former Cumhuriyet editor-in-chief Can Dündar as a guest of honor is a “provocation” ahead of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Turkey, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Müftüoğlu has told reporters.
The Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry has summoned the German charge d’affaires in Ankara to express its reaction over German Justice Minister Heiko Maas’ invitation of Turkish journalist Can Dündar to a reception in Berlin, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) reported on Jan. 24.
