The first recent crisis between Turkey and the U.S. erupted in early October last year, after the latter announced that it had airdropped ammunition and other military equipment to Syria’s Democratic Union Party (PYD) despite Ankara’s strong objection
The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks claimed responsibility for a bombing that killed 28 in Turkey’s capital, but Turkey’s leaders continued to blame a different Kurdish group, an ally of the United States.
The Committee to Protect Journalists said the journalist, Rami Jarrah, had been detained for unclear reasons after reporting in Syria.
